Wood Shake Samples & Profiles

Wood shakes are preferred for homeowners seeking a "heavy" shadow line and a handcrafted feel.

Heavy Hand-Split & Resawn Shakes

The heaviest wood roofing product available, typically 3/4" to 1"+ thick at the butt end.

Key Benefit: Dramatic "peaks and valleys" create bold shadows; provides maximum natural insulation.

Medium Hand-Split & Resawn Shakes

A slightly thinner version of the heavy shake, usually 1/2" thick.

Key Benefit: Offers the authentic hand-split face with a more manageable weight for standard roof structures.

Tapersawn Shakes

A hybrid product. It is sawn on both sides like a shingle but cut to the thickness of a shake.

Key Benefit: Provides a heavier shadow line than shingles while maintaining a flatter, more uniform installation.

Core Benefits of Natural Wood Roofing

Natural Insulation: Wood has a high R-value, helping to naturally regulate home temperatures and reduce energy costs.

Wind Resistance: Due to their weight and rigidity, cedar shingles and shakes are naturally capable of withstanding winds of 130+ MPH.

Sustainability: Cedar is a renewable, carbon-neutral resource. Most Certigrade® products are harvested from managed forests.

Acoustic Dampening: Wood is a natural sound insulator, significantly reducing the noise of rain and hail compared to other roofing materials.

Breathability: Wood fibers naturally allow for airflow, which helps prevent moisture buildup when combined with a proper roofing system.

If your home was hit by wind, hail, or severe weather, don't wait. Our experts will inspect your property, document the damage, and walk you through your options with zero pressure.
